Evolux gets its own plant

When a product line grows, it needs a production identity of its own. That is what happened with the Evolux laser machines for laser anilox cleaning: their growth made it a natural step to give Evolux a dedicated space.

This is the first time Ulmex has dedicated an entire plant to a single product line, a sign of deeper specialisation which, given the complexity of the technology, requires dedicated spaces for both production and research and development.

What actually changes in Evolux production

Behind the growth story, there are very practical implications for those who work with Evolux machines every day. With Plant 2, Ulmex brings every stage of the Evolux production process in-house, from design to final machine testing. In concrete terms, this means:

  • fewer dependencies on external suppliers at critical stages of the process, and therefore less exposure to delays outside Ulmex’s direct control
  • shorter, more predictable delivery times for Evolux machines, because every stage is planned and managed internally
  • quality control applied consistently across the entire supply chain
  • continuous Evolux after-sales support, provided by the same team that has known the machine since the design stage, available wherever the customer is in the world

Why continuity of supply matters more than it seems

For those managing technical purchasing, the question that really matters is not just “does the machine work well today?”, but “will it still work well two years from now, and if something goes wrong, who responds and how quickly?”. An in-house production chain reduces the number of parties involved in answering that question and therefore, as a rule, the time it takes to get an answer.

It is the same principle that has long guided Ulmex’s approach to other in-house components, such as doctor blade chamber seals: in-house production is not an isolated choice, but a criterion applied whenever the critical nature of the component justifies it.

What to expect in the coming months

We will continue to share the Plant 2 story, with content dedicated to the production processes and the people who work there every day.
